Privacy Policy

Overview

softPause is designed to work without accounts and without requiring personal information. Everything you do in the app — your pauses, your mood check-ins, your plant — stays on your device.

Data stored on your device

softPause stores the following information locally on your device only. None of it is sent to a server.

  • Your chosen name (if you entered one during onboarding)
  • Language preference (English, French, or Arabic)
  • Reminders, reminder times, and notification preferences
  • Breathing pace preference (calm, balanced, short)
  • Appearance and haptics preferences
  • Analytics opt-in preference
  • Pause history — timestamps, optional mood check-in (calm, okay, stressed), and pause duration
  • Plant growth stage (a count-based local view of your progress)

All of this data lives in your device's local storage and is removed when you uninstall the app. You can also delete everything at any time from Settings → "Delete all my data".

Analytics

softPause uses PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the app. Analytics are off by default and only run if you explicitly enable them in Settings. When enabled, events may include:

  • app opens and onboarding completion
  • breathing session starts and completions (with breathing pace and duration in seconds)
  • mood check-in outcome (calm / okay / stressed) — never tied to identity
  • reminder enable / disable events
  • settings interactions

Analytics do not include your name, email address, contact information, or directly identifying personal information. Analytics can be turned off anytime in Settings → Privacy.

Your rights and choices

Because softPause does not have accounts or a server, you stay in control of your data:

  • Access: all your data is visible inside the app (History, Settings).
  • Export: you can request an export of your local data by contacting us at the address below.
  • Deletion: use Settings → "Delete all my data" to permanently erase everything from your device, or simply uninstall the app.
  • Withdraw analytics consent: Settings → Privacy → toggle analytics off.

Notifications

Reminder notifications are scheduled locally on your device by iOS or Android. softPause does not send push notifications from a server and does not see when reminders fire.

Children's privacy

softPause is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through softPause, please contact us and we will help remove it.
